How to make the most money on amazon mechanical turk

New to Mturk, Here's what you should know. So you just got your account approved and you started out, cranking out as many HITs as you possibly can making a few bucks a day? Read on for helpful tips to make turking worthwhile and pay a lot more.
In your initial window of 10 days of turking you are limited to HITs per day. The biggest mistake you can make in your first couple days is trying to earn a decent amount of money by doing high paying surveys.
In order to make really good money you need your HIT numbers up see number 6. Qualifications- DO NOT tick the button that says "HITS you are qualified for" on your search bar.
Look at the reasons you are not qualified and see if you can take their tests. Some HITs require a certain percentage or number of HITs to be qualified to do them. You don't want to block these from your searches because then you won't know what to look for when you hit , , etc. Plus when searching for HITs if you see a qualification test you may as well take it as it may be of use later on.
Especially if you turk for long periods of time. Certain qualifications are only open to a limited amount of people.
New to Mturk, Here's what you should know. : mturk
If you hold a closed qualification, you're more likely to get better paying HITs. Scripts-If you don't know what scripts are, google "mturk scripts" get the tamper monkey add-on chrome grease monkey firefox and find what scripts are useful to you. Plus useful additions like blocking hits you don't want to see, and a search bar for your pending and paid hits as well as daily goals and buttons to see requester stats without leaving the page.
The standard fair pay for a hit is around 10 cents a minute. If you can't make that, don't do it if possible. I don't care if it pays 10 dollars for only 3 hours.
It isn't worth it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check ratings before doing HITs. If the requester does not have a good history of fair paying or gives out lots of rejections, you may be getting the raw end of a deal. A lot of requesters want at LEAST approved hits so they know you're taking their studies seriously. When you get to the approved a lot more better paying hits will become available to you. Even more opportunities arise at with a few requesters having thresholds at and The more hits you do, the more opportunities.
Some requesters I've seen require My first few days on mturk I spent around 6 hours or so and only made a couple bucks. I didn't know what I was doing. It is much easier to say you will only spend an hour or two, or quit when you hit 5 dollars for the day. This increased my earnings there, and I'm a regular poster there as well.
Eventually you'll figure out all the tricks and be making money a lot more quickly. Look for batch HITs. These are HITs that are very easy to do, take little time, and pay well. Jeff strong, project endor, crowdsource are good examples. If you want to combine some of the tips from above, do the HubPages qualification test. They are a paid batch of test HITs that are 15 cents a piece. That's up to you! I've been making around dollars a day and have not been on mturk for more than 3 hours a day in over a month.
A lot of people commenting are seeming to only read a few of the bullets and missing the points. Nowhere in this post did I tell people who are new to Mturk to do 0 hits their first few days. The ONLY way to find many of these HITs per day is by having at a minimum HITs approved. I got this in the comments "Honestly I think OP is a bit off The BEST way to find them?
Please read the post before commenting. The end of the article "Why trust me? My first few days on Mturk I did maybe 4 or 5 hits that paid a dollar but took nearly an hour to complete. Now I'm making anywhere from dollars on average and even up to 30 dollars a day with under 3 hours of work. Qualifications again when searching for HITs without that box checked I found the "Label 3D orientation of Heads" After learning the keyboard shortcuts I was doing them in under 3 minutes with fairly high accuracy, I made a mistake here or there but they all got accepted.
I made 16 dollars that hour until they soft blocked me. HubPages was an easy batch of 15 which required qualifications. The best was the qualification test for a batch of 20 two dollar hits that took less than 2 minutes. You can make decent money with the box checked, yes I'm not disputing that. But you also lose a lot of opportunities without it. I see a few of the comments regarding times to Turk. Don't be discouraged if you can't work during these times.
I spend a few minutes at all hours of the day on all days of the week and have never encountered a time I did not find HITs. For reference I am in CST. The last couple HITs I posted to HWTF have been from the hours of 12AM to 3AM, 1.
It's all about finding the right HITs. So it is important to get your numbers up! Something like this should be in a sticky note at the top in case mods are reading this That way people new to mTerk will have the information right there at the top and they will not have to post asking questions.
When you first start your amazon account for this, can you do HITS in the first 48hrs or do you have to wait? I'm trying to get in on this, but each time I click "Accept" it just takes me to the login page again.
I've never had any issues with Amazon signing me out like this. Anyone have any ideas or input on how to deal with this? They will send you an E-mail. Searching different threads may help too. But when you apply they usually REVIEW your account within 48 hours for approval to start working. If you've been approved you can start work right away. I'd be able to take jobs for probably an hour a day in the evenings EST. If you are not 18, unfortunately you will be banned eventually, so make sure you don't lie about your age.
I'm assuming you're a senior then. If not they will take all your money and you won't be able to get it back. You do them efficiently, and correctly to ensure payment. Whenever writing tasks pop up I take them straight away. I'm a quick typist, and just really good at bullshitting until I hit the word requirement so the word essays take me minutes depending on if I have to look things up about the topic. The only problem is that they go quick then you're stuck with other tasks.
Only because you need a high percentage and total completion to do the higher earning HITs. After about a week of doing it you'll see why. It is repetitive, slow, and quite time consuming.
It takes a lot of motivation to keep going, and rejections, slow payments, and taking the same surveys again and again really drain you after a while. But If you're serious about it you can make some pretty decent money. I work no more than 2 hours a day and am making around a month. Also, Turking forums and the site itself are best used and check from between 8 am untii 2 pm.

Those are when the really hot ones get posted, and frequently. Beginner's Guide to Mturk. I am a bot. Send them to my inbox! Are they really the best way to make the most for your time? Is there a list of the best batch requesters that post regularly? Find Project Endor or Jeff Strong batches? Great, you'll meet a 5 or 10 a day goal easy, but you're not gonna make hundreds. You can still often make just as much more more from doing the surveys posted to HWTF.
I got all sorts of crazy looks from my family saying "Ok Glass" over and over again, but I love their HITS. I've been just starting out myself, and I've mainly been doing surveys. Still working on getting up to 50 hits, but I hope to crack that in the next week or so. I'm mainly testing the waters first to see what I can try to gain while my family is out of town for a month. Since I don't have much of a job and it's been snowing at least a foot of snow here every month a job I have to walk or drive to isn't entirely feasible, so this is the next best thing for me.
And I don't even have to get out of the house! They're quick and easy, definitely worth adding to your list of requesters to make a quick easy few bucks when they're up. What MidgardDragon said below vvv, there IS money in batches, but not enough to only do batch hits. A good batch is Crowdsource search google keywords US if you're in the states, using a script that you click a button and searches for you.
The script is "CrowdSource: Which is twelve an hour, but they soft block you for the day after awhile, not sure on the number.
I have no idea how to find the ones I'm not qualified for that are actually worth doing. Honestly I think OP is a bit off in that you SHOULD use the "hits I am qualified for" checkbox to find HITs when you are actually looking to get paid.
You can still search without that to occasionally find qualifications, but for money, just search by the ones you are qualified for. This actually gives me more motivation to really get into turking! I'm actually going to make myself a bit of a schedule so I can really start working at it, and then I'll be able to work on things that pay more and need less time.
I think I'll start working on that schedule now! Get the HIT Database script. It lets you set a daily dollar goal.
I started with 5 a day then when that was easy I bumped it up to Actually, I already have! I made sure to snag pretty much any script I felt I would need from the HWTF Scripts page Do you have any tips for someone just looking for awesome surveys though? So if we want to do the small 1, hits in the first ten days or whatever, obviously we won't be able to use HWTF, because that's for bigger ticket HITs.
Oscar smith, p9r, we-pay-you-fast, request the adult content qualification, then search the word "adult" and look for the ones that have you rate images as adult or not. You can do them in around 30 seconds. Others to look for are identify if two receipts are the same look closely! Or filter HITs by reward amount least first, or HITs available most first.
I like the idea of not doing any HITS that are less than. Do I have to do one from a batch first and then find out? OP added one of my posts to their original and edited my comment to remove the sentence I stated he was off about. Can we not misrepresent the comments of others? I said you are a bit off in that you should check the "I am qualified for" box in search.
The "best way to find them" was a separate remark, technically a second paragraph. You also still didn't include the proper probationary period information regarding when you get paid. The HITs per day limitation is rarely a thing that comes up here, the "when do I get paid" thing is.

Obviously you know what you're doing on Mturk. I'm not disputing that. These are just my personal opinions, like it said in the post. I don't talk about the probationary period information because if you're starting out, odds are you know about it.
This is my guide on tips how I make money. Also why are you telling people not to work mTurk during the 10 day period you still get paid normally just cant withdraw to a bank account till 10 days from sign up. The beginning of that sentence is worded badly, but he or she is saying to do HITs for numbers, not money when you first start.

It's actually really great advice-it's way more beneficial longterm to have approved HITs under your belt after 10 days than to make a little bit more money and have I think a lot of us forget what a pain it is to find good-paying HITs when you're new and unqualified for almost everything that's even half-decent. Better to spend that time getting your numbers up instead. True - but rather than spending time hunting for a white whale during that period, I think it's best to just get it over with.
Nobody likes Oscar Smith and his ilk, but they're around for a reason. I'm not saying only do the 1-cent HITs, far from it. Just that it's better to spend 2 hours doing your HITs with most of that actually working, than spend 4 hours hunting for 2 hours' worth of work. I feel like this is missing THE vital information that we are always seeing new threads about, such as "you have to do 3 HITs a day for 10 days before you start getting paid".
I also think you should set a goal and stick to it in the first 10 days, mine was just 3 HITs a day for a bit then before the 10 days was over, 5 dollars a day. I find that understanding the system and knowing you can meet your goals is far more important than getting up to "as soon as possible". Still waiting to get approved, I'm amazed that more people don't do this. Can you expand on batch hits some more? The money will not just disappear. You are limited to only HITs a day, make the most of them. Posts are automatically archived after 6 months.
