Since that date several things have changed since this experiment. I have now amalgamated all the posts into one and at the end you can read my update. If you had read the previous posts then skip to the end, if not its best to start below and follow the saga through……. Several years ago I used to make money as an affiliate of the eBay Partner Network. It used to be easy money and started to amount to a good monthly income.

Then EPN changed its system and the earnings stopped virtually overnight. This was annoying but no big issue for me as my main source of income is my Police Pension. However for many internet marketers it caused untold stress and havoc. Since that time I have ceased using or promoting EPN and have not earned any commissions from them as a result. However I have had one customer who I had built a website for who had decided to discontinue its use.

I have therefore decided to experiment with affiliate marketing again with the sole purpose to see if I can make any money using the Ebay Partner Network. There are a few considerations first. Due to Google and its Penguin and Panda updates I know it is absolutely no use in trying to get any search engine traffic to this site.

It will purely be for eBay listings and Google simply will not include it in its search results. Part of this experiment will be to discover alternative traffic sources to pass through the EPN affiliate links. So here is how I am going to undertake this experiment. This is a simple no fuss plugin that requires you to grab the appropriate feed from within your EPN dashboard and pop it into a box inside a page or post and then select the number of items to display — really simple.

I have no intention of trying to cloak any links or hide the fact these are affiliate links — quite the opposite in fact. I intend to only use EPN affiliate links and no others on this site. I have deleted all the old customers data on the site which is built in WordPress. I have installed a nice clean and simple Studiopress theme which is mobile friendly. So where will the traffic come from? Well I have a source of traffic from two Facebook Fan Pages I have left dormant since I gave up affiliate marketing as a source of income.

I have regenerated these two fan pages by simply posting free content such as news stories and videos from Youtube. Surprisingly the number of fans Liking each page has started to increase quite well. I have now created some simple blog post with eBay listings relevant to each fan page and then posted links from the fan page back to my blog.

I have started the links from the 1st of April and I will report back on my traffic and earnings each month. However in the first 19 days its been going I have the following results: I will await the end of the month and report back more fully by analysing what has sold on eBay to earn me these commissions.

The first months results are in now and reported below. I am interested to know what has earned this small amount of commission. In the EPN dashboard you can download a transaction report in text format. This report shows that 5 items were recorded as sold through my links.

Interestingly only 2 items were directly attributed to the subject of one of these links. Both of the Facebook pages which drove this traffic are in the motoring section.

However it does seem there is still an opportunity to get some sales within the 24 hour time frame if only a fraction of the previous earnings. The one worry again with EPN is that I keep seeing warning boxes within the dashboard with messages such as……. All reporting is now back online and up-to-date.

These messages and my past experience with EPN does not fill me with confidence that the traffic I am sending them is actually being rewarded. In summary it took me very little effort to make just 8 posts to Facebook within a one month period in subject areas that interest me. I have learnt the EPN system for building links through RSS feeds again but I am reminded of the nagging doubts over the tracking cookie which caused me to give up EPN in the first place.

I shall report again at the end of May on performance. This month I have been busy elsewhere and have not taken much effort to create content for either Facebook pages. Once again there is a doubt in my mind that from 13 clicks into eBay there were no transactions. However as all the stats were down this month mostly due to my neglect I shall be keen to see if anything happens in June.

Must update more frequently. I have taken a video which is becoming popular on you tube and I am posting it on the website page and then posting on Facebook a link back to the website. The idea is that those Facebook users who have liked the page already will see the link to the video in their feed and then visit the site.

If they enjoy the video they will share it with others on Facebook providing more links. The more they do this the more visitors there are. I have also put an eBay affiliate banner on the website blog post to see if it will generate any more clicks and earnings. As I say the two Facebook pages are in the motoring section. Following last months abject decline of traffic I decided to put more effort into the Facebook Pages this month. I have done two things differently. Below is the video I choose to use.

It has a motoring theme and it was humorous. I created a post on my website with the title. Just for you competent lady drivers here is a must buy on eBay! The idea was that ladies having watched the video may be tempted to look at the driving shoes and thereby record a tracking cookie or even hopefully buy a pair.

I know my wife has a special pair of shoes she keeps for driving so I thought I had a good mix of interesting video and interesting goods to shop.

I then posted this blog post on both the Facebook Pages with a link back to my website. The second method was to BUY some traffic. Facebook allows you to target an audience. For this post I choose to advertise it to women between the ages of 18 and 65 living in the UK.

The results according to the Facebook adverts manager showed a reach of , with 72 post engagement and a cost per engagement of 0. All good stuff but it actually did not lead to one single sale of payable click from eBay partner network!!! So my experiment at buying traffic was a failure or my continual fear that EPN does not accurately record affiliate links may also be true. I have much to learn about testing adverts and reaching the right target audience using Facebook and EPN.

Well so much for putting in more effort on Facebook! This month I am going to be busy with two antique fairs with our silver business so I anticipate I will only be able to post just a few items of news and therefore do not expect much traffic next month!

I will however report back the results. The net result was a disappointment. This past month July I have put very little effort into both pages posting just 7 items between the two. The bazaar fact from this exercise is that click through to eBay from the website increased by 1! However none of these clicks have converted into an eBay commission. Is this because there were no sales or is there a screening issue with eBay??

With 4 months gone with this experiment I am surprised there has not been another commission. It is now looking like the target may not be met after all.

I am not sure what to tinker with this month to try and induce a commission — perhaps just leaving it alone is best! I have no faith at all in the Ebay Partner Network. None of which have resulted in a commission from eBay. I can only conclude no one bought anything or there is something at fault with their tracking system. So I am again ditching EPN. I have not made up my mind whether to ditch the website from this test or to experiment with products from Clickbank.

I shall report later on any decision. So in conclusion this experiment was a failure in terms of affiliate marketing — much as I had expected but had hoped otherwise!! As you can see from the above I abandoned this project back in July having lost interest in the project. However I left the links in place and occasionally added to each of the Facebook pages to keep up the readers interest and every so often I put a link back to my website with an affiliate link to eBay.

However by just drip feeding news articles to these Facebook pages the number of Likes has risen to for the first one and for the second. Hi getting approved on eBay partner network is now instant and open to anyone.

Payments are not fast if you get any at all. What happened to me with eBay partner network has also happened to some of my friends and if you do a google search you will find that what happened to me and some of my friends has also happened to many others around the world.

I reckon that anyone claiming to make money with eBay partner network are paid by eBay partner network to say so. You know, a bit like those scam websites that use fiver. This is the type of business that eBay partner network are proving to be with the more time that passes.

Anyway, here is what happened to me with eBay partner network along with some of my friends along with the rest of the world that begins to earn good money with eBay partner network. What is interesting to note is that after some extensive research, me, some of my friends and the rest of the world did nothing wrong.

We have all had good quality traffic BUYERS and NOT clicked on our own content as that would be classed as non bona fide transactions. This is enough to make most people think that eBay partner network is the best thing since the invention of the wheel.

You spend hours if not days sending traffic to eBay. Traffic turns into buyers. But now they have to give it to you via the eBay partner network program. Join eBay partner network at you own risk and expect eBay partner network to legally steal your money.

There is nothing good about ebay partner network. You only have to do a google search to know that. Ebay partner network tucked me up like many other people around the web.

I clicked on NONE of my own content and I have no friends that know about my content. Yet ebay partner network was legally allowed to steal my money.

Ebay partner network are scammers. I have never been in that league. I have been with EPN since the CJ days when things were more accountable. I do still promote some EPN links and do still earn small dribbles of commission but could not recommend anyone tries to build a regular income from it. So the lesson is Yes you can still make money with EPN BUT not very much Conclusion to this Update I have technically made a profit.
